Spring bouquets!

Now that our season is in full swing (yes, we started in late March... early!) and we are creating numerous, gorgeous bouquets our time to blog and document is limited. Here are a few diverse photographs from the studio (and as always, we await the beautiful professional shots) of recent pretty. Enjoy!

Paul and Beth, Hitched in the Highlands 2011

Paul and Beth were the winners of Hitched in the Highlands 2, an urban adventure race organized by Happy Cakes in early February. After successfully maneuvering an obstacle course and foot race (in the snow none-the-less), this delightful couple was rewarded a wedding package valued at over 20K.

This included a photography package from the fabulous David Lynn Photography. {below are a mix of their shots mixed with mine showcasing the event details!}

We were delighted to contribute flowers for their celebration and loved their unique preferences. They opted for a color palette of white, soft green and apricot with unique, textured details including ornamental kale and rosemary tips. Beth LOVES poppies but unfortunately, mother nature did not cooperate (boo). Instead we provided that gorgeous pop of apricot with ranunculus, pincushion proteas, tulips and fabulously large dahlias. We created a soft cascade from the front of her bouquet with green helleborus and orange mokara orchid buds.

The boutonnieres were created with ranunculus buds, rosemary tips and succulent accents.

Beth's Maid of Honor carried a coordinating bouquet of pale green hydrangea, white lisianthus, tulips and anemones with rosemary, kale and helleborus buds.

Paul and Beth love biking and rented the most unique prop I have decorated to date for their ceremony backdrop at Mile High Station.

Their centerpieces were created in modern, clean white ceramic cube and bud vases and included wheatgrass, dahlias, tulips, mokara orchids and ranunculus.

We also accented the delicious cupcake display with elegant individual apricot buds in smaller white modern bud vases for a touch of color.

Congratulations to Beth and Paul.

You were wonderful to work with and we wish you the best!

Spring blooms across the pond!

These lovely photographs made their way into our inbox this week and we had to share the amazing spring blooms currently in London and the Netherlands.

The daffodils are in Hyde Park in London (thanks for sharing Amy!) and the tulip fields are in the Northern Netherlands. Enjoy!

The Luxury Bridal Showcase at the Ritz Carlton

Last month we had the pleasure of working with a very well-respected and talented group of vendors at the first annual StudioWed Luxury Bridal Showcase at The Ritz Carlton Denver.
We collaborated on a tablescape we named "Through The Looking Glass" that was inspired by whimsical elegance and incorporated spring blooms, our elegant candelabra, hanging crystals, butterflies, moss, votives and hand mirrors.
The vendor team included:

Calluna Events
Chair Covers and Linens
Event Rents
Intricate Icings
JS Design

The beautiful backdrop was a lemon yellow linen covered in a silver overlay complimented by silver chivari chairs, provided by Tamara and Chris at Chair Covers and Linens and with flatware, place settings and crystal by Event Rents.

The bouquet consisted of numerous ranunculus in blush, pink, yellow and apricot complimented by green dianthus, tangerine spray roses, peach garden roses, daffodils and lavender lisianthus.

We love these birdcage terrariums and our elevated moss garden.

Each place setting was beautifully labeled by Julie with JS Designs and named after characters in Alice's tale. The plates were accented by a mini cake (created by Rachael with Intricate Icings) under our glass dome (adorned with a curious silk butterfly) or a hand mirror garnished with a daffodil blossom. Rachael also created coordinating cake pops that were placed decoratively in the smaller birdcages.

What we love now... Italian ranunculus

Italy is a magical country and everything that stems from it is seemingly beautiful! It must be the wine and olive oil, right? Such is the case with these incredible ranunculus stems that recently became available to us from the region of Liguria. Here are a few close-ups of the amazing pink and butter blooms we received two weeks ago. They are still alive in the studio and still look this beautiful!

The photo below if of the grower, Emanuela. Emanuela says “growing these flowers is more of a passion than a culture. I treat each bunch of flowers as I do my children." She is obviously a wonderful Mother! These blooms are larger and more incredible than any variation of ranunculus we have seen to date.

Beautiful bouquets

Creating bouquets for events or photo shoots is a delight to a designer.

We may break the budget, but we love to select unusual blooms and create unpredictable combinations. Such was the case with yesterday's bridesmaids' bouquets for the Anne Be Maids & Mimosas Event.

This delicious bouquet is a combination of fuchsia peonies, pink protea blooms, folded flax leaves, green dianthus blooms, ornamental kale and silver tree blooms and peach gravillia.

The bouquet above features mini amaryllis blooms, cymbidium orchid blooms, white lisianthus, silver berzilia berries, mini artichokes and bacarra roses.

Fall Wedding Tablescape

Autumn Burke recently provided these beautiful photographs of a unique tablescape created by Debbie at the fall StudioWed bridal showcase.

Jenny designed the lush centerpiece featured in one of our rustic wood containers with tangerine flowers including gerberas, dahlias, ranunculus and roses with queen anne's lace and dusty miller accents. StudioWed is a great source of inspiration for all 2011 brides in the brainstorming stage!

The Annual Doll's Tea

The Doll's Tea is an annual tradition at the historic Oxford Hotel. It is a traditional tea for adults and little girls featuring a "whimsical" ballet performance and an opportunity for the girls to meet the ballerinas after the show. Simple and elegant white blooms

Below are two collages from recent events where the brides (Ashley and Aerinne) opted for all white arrangements with accents of only green foliage or dark branches. The mix of white hydrangea, lisianthus, mini calla lilies, orchids, Fuji mums, dahlias and tulips is lush and elegant. Aerinne's arrangements were peppered with dark Italian Ruscus greenery and lily grass loops while Ashley opted for curly willow and manzanita branches. Simple elegance at it's best!

Plum Sage is not about predictable flower arrangements... and here are a few baby shower creations that break the mold.

I am partial as these were made by Jenny for Baby Bennett's party (who is due to arrive any day now) but I love the billy ball and fern shoot caterpillars (on a bed of kermit mum "grass") as well as the mum initial blocks below.

Who needs the traditional blue and pink arrangements when there are fun and unique combinations like these?

Local color for Planet Bluegrass

We LOVE when a bride prefers to use all local, organic product in her wedding day flowers. Particularly if the wedding is at a gorgeous, outdoor venue such as Planet Bluegrass in Lyons. Margaret was incredibly flexible with her flower type preferences but preferred reds, golds and oranges (to compliment the rock backdrop) with a hint of blue (to compliment the sky).

We purchased product from our favorite farm, Pastures of Plenty, including zinnias, marigolds, dahlias, sunflowers, cosmos, dahlias, heliopsis, black eyed susans and crocosmia and added fern shoots, stellata pods and kermit mums. We love these bright and textured combinations!

Rich colors and branches at the Oxford Hotel

Late September is a distinct season in Colorado... temperatures fluctuate and fall colors begin to show in the trees but summer still lingers. We feel Michelle's flower choices for her 9.19 wedding at St. Phillip Lutheran and at the Oxford hotel reflected this time perfectly.

Michelle opted for a bright combination of fall tones including oranges, reds, greens and browns with splashes of gold. We included flame and eggplant mini calla lilies, red and hypnose (latte) roses, orange ranunculus, spray roses and freesia, vibrant green and antique green hydrangea and hypericum berries, gold cymbidium orchids, wheat sprigs, chocolate cosmos and green hanging amaranthus. We added dark brown manzanita branches to her alter pieces and to half of her centerpieces... also complimenting her centerpieces with flower "nests" in the branches. Her bridal bouquet (top right) included ruffly ivory garden roses to compliment her dress while her bridesmaids' bouquets contained more brown (hypnose roses and chocolate cosmos) to compliment their chocolate dresses.

We look forward to seeing images of the day from one of our favorite photographers, Susan Pacek. Susan always captures the details and beauty of the day far better than we could! Congratulations Michelle!

Hudson Gardens and Living the Sweet Life

We recently created arrangements for two beautiful events at Hudson Gardens in Littleton. These brides selected items with great similarities (i.e. galvanized containers for centerpieces and aisle decor as well as treats from our friends at Living the Sweet Life) but opted for different color palettes and flower choices.

Kristen's arrangements were soft peach, cantaloupe, ivories and greens with flowers including garden roses, mini gerbera daisies, spray roses, dahlias, geranium foliage, hypericum berries, lisianthus and feverfew. She whitewashed her galvanized buckets and we used these arrangements to decorate the ceremony aisle at Monet's garden. Her centerpieces were adorable button cakes by Living the Sweet Life. Her photographer, Katie with Jenna Walker, is one of our favorites so we look forward to seeing her images of the day!

Pearl's arrangements also included gerbera daisies but in a deep orange. She used these as a contrast to ivory roses, dahlias and calla lilies, green hydrangea, cymbidium orchids, Fuji mums and hydrangea and blue hydrangea and delphinium bud accents. Pearl's silver bucket arrangements were centerpieces and she opted for a cupcake tower topped with a petite cutting cake. We look forward to images of Pearl and Matt from Trystan Photography.

Champagne and ivory with a splash of copper

We love unique color combinations and Tasha's choices for her Saturday wedding at The Holy Ghost and The University Club is an ideal example. Tasha's bridesmaids wore champagne and she had a light ivory gown. Her choices including Saharra (champagne), Vendella (ivory) and Hypnose (latte) roses with splashes of peach stock, pale peach astilbe and copper cymbidium orchids complimented this palette and made for unique, soft and elegant arrangements. Tasha collected brass vases and candle holders which we used as platforms for her centerpieces and her flower girl carried the wand at the upper right corner, the perfect compliment to her ivory tutu. Congratulations Tasha! We look forward to seeing your photographs by Tyler Jones.

Brenna and Ross, Vail Chapel and the Sonnenalp

Yesterday was a beautiful, beautiful day in Vail and we had the pleasure of working with Carolyn from Artisan Events on a gorgeous event. I have limited images from the day as we were busy setting up decor at the Sonnenalp Hotel but I imagine the photographer James Christianson will do the day justice.

Here are a few detail shots including Brenna's cascading bouquet of lisianthus, calla lilies, phaleonopsis orchids, cymbidium orchids, champagne roses and ranunculus. This was created to compliment her Oscar De La Renta Gown, shown on the model here.

The bridal party wore Vera Wang dresses in slate grey and carried clutch bouquets in rich purples, wines and greens including hydrangea, dahlias, mini calla lilies, ranunculus, orchids, lisianthus and seeded eucalyptus with lily grass loop accents.

Decorating the cocktail tables were simple bubble bowls with looped eggplant mini calla lilies and lining the walkway from the cocktail area to the reception were a dozen hooks with hanging copper buckets with submerged candles and hanging seeded eucalyptus detail.

The twenty reception tables alternating between tall, lush arrangements of hydrangea (including both light blue, rich blue, deep purple and lime green), israeli and italian ruscus, seeded eucalyptus, blue viburnum berries, white lysimachia, dahlias, vendella and champagne roses, lisianthus and hyperium. We hung glass votives from birch and curly willow branches extending from the arrangement tops.

The low centerpieces including a smaller version of this centerpiece complimented by a low cylinder vase with twisted, submerged lily grass loops, orchids and calla lilies. We surrounded these vases with pillar and floating candles in cylinder vases with submerged flower heads.

The bride's cake was a beautiful, simple pattern with white buttercream including mountain detailing complimented by simple green hydrangea buds.

Yesterday was an awesome day!

We had a great crew (thank you Jenny, Brittney, Briana, Theresa, Jess and Kiley with Plum Sage) and an ideal day for a large set-up at the gorgeous Della Terra.

We worked with Katie and Kristy of Couture Consulting, Pink Monkey and the Ritz Carlton Denver Catering and created a spectacular event for Sally and Braden. Hands down my photos will look silly compared to the talented Katie with Jenna Walker Photography but I couldn't help but share a few of my shots!

Sarah and John were married at Beaver Creek Chapel with a reception at John's gorgeous family home in Mountain Star. The timing of the day did not allow us to capture any photos of the beautiful bride and we were so busy with lantern, table, garland and cake decor we were only able to get a few shots... but here is a glimpse of Sarah's elegant choices including manzanita branches, white hydrangea, white phaleonopsis orchids, ruscus greenery and grape detail with pinecone, artichoke and moss accents.

It's a bird's eye view from the Vail wedding deck! We drove up the mountain Saturday to bring Jennifer and Zach's flowers to the mountain-top ceremony site and reception at the Game Creek Club.

Jennifer loved the bird details so we incorporated nests of various sizes, bird bud vases, colorful silk birds and branches. We created arrangements including blushing bride, garden roses, esperence roses, milano roses, green hydrangea, cymbidium orchids, billy balls, phaleonopsis orchids, oncidium orchids and mini calla lilies. Elements like the nests, birch bark, bronze lanterns, moss and curly willow added to the rustic elegance.

The rain stayed away and the view was stunning...

The studio has been a blur of activity and we are thrilled to share images in the next few weeks of the gorgeous events we have decorated. We have created arrangements for beautiful venues including Allie's cabin, Devil's Thumb Ranch, Keystone Ranch, The Eagle's Nest in Vail, Arrowhead Golf Course, Keystone's Timber Ridge.... any more!

Here are a few beautiful photos from my dear Katy's celebration last weekend at DTR. Katy wanted a colorful, "farmer's market" feel to her reception. We used a ton of color including yellow garden roses, pink and orange ranunculus, gold billy balls, orange freesia, pink lisianthus, orange safflower, blue hydrangea, hot pink gloriosa lilies, orange pincushion proteas, lavender sprigs, green hypericum berries, green hanging amaranthus and more. We decorated the ceremony site with colorful hanging pomanders of fresh flowers and created bright, sunny arrangements in blue mason jars for her reception tables. Katy's dessert display, with goodies created by our friend Erika at Living the Sweet Life was a gorgeous splash of color and fun with treats including cupcakes, brownies and pies. Please note, in my photo not all of the desserts were displayed yet!

Ashley and Dave

I simply loved this wedding!

It was such a pleasure working with Ashley and Dave and Ashley's parents Alma and John... I loved Ashley's color palette {deep purple and bright green}, the locations {Trinity Methodist and The Pinnacle Room at the Grand Hyatt}, her photographers {David Lynn Photography}, the linen company (The Linen Hero) and overall, Ashley's enthusiasm for unique and modern design. That ultimately made this wedding FUN! Not to mention beautiful.

Ashley's bouquets were a lush combination of hydrangea, dahlias, orchids and lisianthus and the stems were uniquely wrapped in tight lily grass loops.

We invented a modern centerpiece design which included tall arrangements on cylinder vases... some with wheatgrass and "growing" orchid and mini calla buds at the base and some with submerged strung green cymbidium and purple vanda orchid heads. Each of these had a unique bunch of coordinating flowers decoratively tilted at the top of the vase and adorned with ti leaf wraps and coordinating purple ribbon.

The shorter centerpieces had coordinating arrangements in 5" cylinder vases with purple ti leaf wraps, a kermit mum pomander placed on a small pedestal vase and a pillar candle with lily grass loops wound around the inside of the glass.

One of my favorite details was the escort card table. We lined trays with dark purple moonvista flower beds and decorated the back with a modern display of purple and green pomander balls of various sizes that were connected with lily grass loops. Other visuals shown above include the cocktail arrangements with sliced, submerged limes inside the vase, the hydrangea pew decor and the large alter arrangements including all of the flowers mentioned above.

Origami at the Museum of N&S

One of our 7.17 weddings was incredibly unique thanks to the bride, Erin's craftiness. Erin created hundreds of origami butterflies to decorate her unique and modern reception at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. We know that the photos by R.J. Kern will be outstanding but we couldn't help but share a few of our images from setting up the day.

Erin's bouquet had an "orbital" theme and consist of various shades of yellow with green accents including Fuji mums, dahlias, mini gerbera daisies, celosia and green kermit mums with bear grass loop accents. We complimented the top with a single, turquoise origami butterfly that matched her shoes.

We complimented Erin's strung art with manzanita branches, birch poles and modern arrangements including dozes of pomanders in bright yellow or green mums hanging from turquoise ribbon. The birch frame ceremony site (below) adorned with coordinating arrangements and yet more origami strands was picturesque on the deck with a stunning cityscape background.

Quite contrary to the incredible weddings we produced yesterday (stay tuned for stunning images from the Denver Art museum including HUNDREDS of origami birds and butterflies) we had over 20 toy dump trucks in the studio for a unique Convention Designs order. Many thanks to my sister Heather, who was visiting from Arizona. We put her to work planting unique bedding flowers into the truck beds for a unique and fun centerpiece for a Western Disposal Event.

We had the pleasure of decorating Jessica and Mike's wedding celebration yesterday and the beautiful Crooked Willow Farm in Larkspur, Colorado.

This event was also spectacular due to our collaboration with Debbie's reliable team from Save the Date Events.

Here are a few visuals of the beautiful arrangements including raspberry, yellow, tangerine, green and ivory shades of garden roses, spray roses, hydrangea, mini calla lilies, hanging amaranthus, hypericum berries, curly willow and dahlias.

We particularly loved Jessica's choice of multiple bundt cakes for her dessert display, provided by The Bundt Shop, which I individually decorated to coordinate with the centerpiece decor.

When my dear friend from college, Anne, was planning her wedding at The Farm outside Asheville I designed her wedding flower proposal. Lucky for me, Beth and Liz were willing to create my vision. They were gracious enough to follow my lead on flower choices, color palette and design style and they even allowed me to create Anne's bouquet on the day of her wedding. Here are a few colorful shots from this week at the studio...

Above are Katina's bold buds for her Denver wedding at the United Church of Christ and Space Gallery cocktail party. Modern blooms including cymbidium and phaleonopsis orchids coupled with mini calla lilies, gloriosa lilies and coxcomb created bright, stunning combinations.

Andrea's bouquet is a simple but gorgeous (and fragrant!) combination of hydrangea and gardenias for her Friday wedding at the St. Regis Chapel.

Laura's bouquet, cake accents, birch wildflower centerpiece and flower girl wand contained huge variety of wine, green, orange and bright green buds for her wedding at St. Elizabeth's Chapel and University Club reception.

Sunflowers, delphinium, freesia, billy balls and curly willow combinations were picked up on Friday for Becky's Friday celebration at Della Terra in Estes Park.

The studio was packed with beautiful flowers last weekend as we decorated events at fabulous venues including the Evergreen Lake House, The Ritz Carlton Denver, The Garden of the Gods, The Sanctuary Golf Course, Duo Restaurant and Devil's Thumb Ranch. We are just as busy for the upcoming holiday weekend but in my brief break I want to share two collages from the vibrant Sanctuary and Devil's Thumb arrangements.

Marisa (above) selected only fuchsia and pink blossoms including gorgeous peonies, dahlias, ranunculus, tulips, mini calla lilies and orchids. These complimented her fresh navy attire and pink and navy theme. Gorgeous!

Michelle (below) opted for a soft sky blue, brown and white combination with silver and green accents including peonies, lisianthus, stock, delphinium, bupleurum, dusty miller and seeded eucalyptus. We loved her cake by Cakes by Request and enjoyed working with Jessica with JA Special Events.

Colorado blooms for June weddings

Saturday we had three beautiful events in Denver and one in Breckenridge. I absolutely love this first collage which features three different bouquet examples which each showcase locally grown flowers. The top shows yarrow and feverfew, as well as iris. The second showcases local white peonies (gorgeous). The bottom right includes dahlias, lilac and geranium foliage.

In addition to these beautiful combinations, we created extremely colorful and vibrant arrangements for Audra's wedding at 1st Mennonite Church in Denver followed by a reception at Phipp's Mansion. Audra's vibrant color palette complimented mango and gold calla lilies, gold and green cymbidium orchids, deep pink phaleonopsis orchids, gold oncidium orchids, rich purple hydrangea, hot lady pink and milva orange roses as well as accents including bupleurum, freesia and vanda orchids. We particularly loved her cocktail arrangements which featured cut fruit complimented by flower blossoms. Congratulations Audra!

We absolutely LOVE working with peonies and look forward to the small window in which we can use them in numerous events between May and June. Yesterday's wedding at Meadow Creek Bed and Breakfast was the ideal opportunity. Heather and Austin were married outside in a gorgeous field in Pine, Colorado at the B&B. The bridal party wore rich lapis purple gowns and the color palette of deep pink, purple and vibrant green complimented the attire. Heather selected grape muscari, peonies, fern shoots, anemones, supergreen roses and hypericum berries for her bouquets and centerpieces. We alternated the table decor with square glass vase arrangements and lanterns. The small cutting cake was complimented with fresh buds on the top and the guests could choose from an array of amazing cupcakes provided by Michelle at The Bagel Bakery. One of my favorite details was the potted Nelly Moser clematis plant we placed at the front aisle at the ceremony to honor Austin's Mother, who owned a nursery named after this gorgeous vine.

Congratulations to Heather and Austin! We are so happy you had such a beautiful Colorado day for your celebration.

Spring greens and pinks

Cortney's Saturday wedding occurred at Cheeseman Park and the Magnolia Hotel. Unfortunately, I was not able to grab a photograph of Cortney with her gorgeous bouquet of mini calla lilies, green goddess calla lilies, and green parrot tulips with pink tulip accents. Her girls wore fuchsia and carried a single stem of a green goddess with the stem wrapped in an elegant band of coordinating ribbon. The gentleman wore pink tulip buds with a pop of green in the form of a kermit mum. The centerpieces were a bundle of green Fuji mums with the vases accented with strips of black and fuchsia ribbon. I look forward to seeing images of their sunny ceremony in the park... Congratulations!

April wedding at Red Rocks

It's Thursday and I still haven't shared images from last week's events, which means it is spring and we are picking up speed in the world of weddings! Last Saturday the skies cleared for both of our outdoor ceremonies (the Holy Ghost was less of a concern than Red Rocks or Cheeseman Park!). Here is a collage from Lindy's Red Rocks wedding. Lindy opted for a natural green and white palette to compliment her girl's sage green dresses. We created the bouquets out of green hydrangea, cymbidium orchid buds, succulent buds, lily grass loops and lotus pods. We lined the isle at The Trading Post with hanging bucket arrangements with local dahlias and hyacinth and accents of huck greenery and berzillia berries. We adorned our cedar arch with hanging strips of sage green ribbon with delicate white blooms adhered to each string. Lindy was a gorgeous and happy bride. Congratulations to Lindy and Zach!

Walker Fine Arts gallery wedding...

Sunday was a gorgeous spring day and the Walker Fine Arts Gallery was the ideal space for a unique brunch wedding. Jamie and Jason were married in front of a stunning piece that coincidentally coordinated with both Jamie's attire and her bouquet. The ranunculus cluster (the white, round blooms) at the front of her bouquet mimicked a cluster of fabric blooms on the bodice of her dress and the pale blue dephinium buds complimented her pale blue necklace. We created small, unique, colorful and modern pieces to compliment the various sized tables placed around the gallery. My personal favorite was the simple silhouette of 5 vases of Bells of Ireland for the guest book. Congratulations Jamie and Jason!

Rich romance at the Oxford... again!

This reason for the repeat title is merely mirror elegance. Last weekend's Oxford wedding was elegant and romantic, much like the last wedding with this respected blog title. Leslie wanted this atmosphere for her mid-March wedding with rich reds, pinks and wine shades and English-garden style arrangements. Charlotte, black baccarra and black beauty roses were selected as well as hanging amaranthus, mini calla lilies, dahlias, sweet william and spray roses. The bouquets were a combination of rose varieties with mini calla lilies and a slight crystal accent. The escort cards rested in a bed of red roses. The isle was adorned with a red rose petal swirl and the centerpieces were green glass overflowing with seeded eucalyptus, roses, amaranthus, tulips, dahlias, spray roses and sweet william. Congratulations Leslie!

It is the first day of spring and today's wedding flowers could not have reflected the occasion better. Our bride, Erin, is getting married here in the Highlands and we created her personal flowers including the bridal bouquet, 6 bridesmaid bouquets, nosegays for the mothers, single stems with ribbons for flower girls and nieces, boutonnieres and bright red dahlias to hang from the pews from green ribbon. Erin's bright choices included Fuji mums, cymbidium orchids, freesia, ranunculus, tulips,, spray roses, gerbera daisies, supergreen roses and dahlias and we love the festive combination. Congratulations Erin and although there is snow on the ground, the sun is shining for you!

We braved the snow Saturday for Holly's wedding at the historic Stanley Hotel. You will notice that Holly preferred the recently popular color palette of red, wine and cranberry. Holly added a pop of lavender in the form of Ocean Song roses, which made the charolotte red roses, spray roses and anemones more vibrant. Her bridesmaids carried presentation style bouquet including coordinating flowers and cedar greenery and we alternated tall and low centerpieces between lush, coordinating arrangements on 22" cylinders and clusters of floating candles in cylinders adorned with petals. We created her arrangements with rich reds and purples complimented by a light pink and white. Her flower selections included red mokara and James Story orchids, purple and white anemones, bacarra roses, tulips, mini calla lilies, and cymbidium orchids complimented by lily grass loops and deep purple ti leaves. Her simple black iron chuppah was complimented by assymetrical decor in coordinating blooms. My favorite aspect of this wedding are the five flower girl "wands" we created for the little girls in her wedding party. These are a unique and whimsical alternative to petals or pomanders. January is the month for florists to take a break after the busy wedding and holiday season (and before Valentine's Day approaches). Last weekend, I escaped to Vegas and while there, I popped into the Bellagio to check out their always stunning floral displays and garden. This month, the hotels were celebrating the Chinese new year. Here are a few shots of the gorgeous Chinese displays utilizing plants and flowers... this is is a house account any florist would LOVE to have!

ISES Wedding Showcase

We had the pleasure of participating in last night's ISES Wedding Showcase at Mile High Station along with several talented StudioWed vendors including Debbie with Save the Date Events, Julie with JS Designs, Andrea with AK Haydon Floral Design, and Tamara with Chair Covers and Linens.

Here are some visuals of our fresh design! We were inspired by the green palette in the StudioWed logo, which lead to the linen and vintage fabric selection. We framed the fabric in pewter frames and hung it from a pipe and drape from green grosgrain ribbon. The modern white plates and round champagne flutes set the tone for monochromatic white dahlia arrangements on silver pedestal West Elm vases.

The best details included the individual cakes at each place setting done by Rachael with Intricate Icings and the table cards hanging delicately from each chair by JS Designs. Both of these objects had floral detail that coordinated with the pattern in the vintage fabric. Beautiful work!

Here are a few images from last Monday's wedding at Devil's Thumb Ranch... I grabbed what shots I could before Cori headed out the door with loads of orchids and branches to create large pieces that she assembled on site. Jennifer selected a soft palette of ivories, greens and silver for her winter wedding. Polar star roses, cymbidium and dendrobium orchid buds, ranunculus, hypericum, kale and dusty miller are just a few of the beautiful buds utilized. More visuals to come!

I delivered flowers bright and early this morning for Kara's wedding celebration. Once again, I was lucky to work with beautiful peonies but today they were in pale pink. The complimented rich pink phaleonopsis orchid buds, soft green hydrangea and lavender freesia and sweet peas. I alternated between freesia sprigs and orchid blooms for boutonnieres and the bouquet on the bottom right was to adorn the cake top, inspired by this Martha Stewart image... it was certainly refreshing to work with such soft, spring colors! Congratulations Kara!

NYE at the University Club

We love the "hot lady" deep pink shade of rose and it was center-stage last night for Penny's New Years Eve wedding. The bouquets were stunning and simple and coordinating with both Penny's shoes and the bridesmaids' dress sash. We decorated the University Club with tall centerpieces of birch and dogwood branches with hanging glass votive candles. The warm light complimented the room perfectly and coordinated with the fireplace display at the far end of the room. Both the escort card table and the cake were also adorned with hot lady petals and blossoms.

December was a blur of activity in the studio... we were slammed with holiday party orders, weddings, decor installations and inquiries for 2010 weddings. We are coming up for air and I hope to blog regularly once again! Here is one of our favorite bridal bouquets from the holiday season. This is Alison's creation for her wedding at the Oxford Hotel. It is delicious in many ways but we particularly adore the deep red peonies, which travel all the way from New Zealand this time of year to delight our clients.

These photos date back to June... I stumbled upon them when looking at the talented Kent Merieis' blog and wanted to showcase Brooke and Alex's day. Brooke wanted a soft, romantic feel for her ceremony flowers in whites and greens including peonies, sweet peas and orchids but transitioned into a colorful Colorado wildflower palette for her reception and even accented her cake with delicate, colorful butterflies.

We are surprising all of our weekly accounts with a holiday wreath this year... and yesterday Cori and I had fun with Highland Pacific's. The crew at Highland Pacific is incredible. The restaurant is actually a small community with a regular clientelle that has great taste in music, large hearts and jovial attitudes. If you haven't been there to try the oysters, ceviche or mussels you are missing out. Head there to get happy after work and don't forget to check out their new Nemo wreath!

The Doll's Tea

The Doll's Tea is an annual event at the Oxford Hotel where little girls can dress up, come for tea and see ballerinas perform in a decorated and intimate setting. This is the third year we have had the pleasure decorating the event and this year, we coordinating with the new color palette with white carnation carpet "gifts" for the 3' children's tables and coordinating lush centerpieces for the adult tables with hydrangea, fuji mums, roses and stock.

We are honored to be featured (again) and are in amazing company with our friends at The Flower House, The Flower Gallery, Kimball Floral, The Perfect Petal and Swank Stems (to name only a few of those honored state wide).

Winter wedding in Estes...

...well, sort of! It was 50 degrees and sunny at Della Terra in Estes Park today. A beautiful day for Katie and Jeff's celebration. We worked with a variety of flowers and elements for Katie's creations including picasso mini calla lilies (cream with a rich purple throat), deep purple lisianthus, purple tulips, purple ranunculus (gorgeous) and other buds including stock, kermit mums, vendella roses, freesia and supergreen roses. We decorated her ceremony site with large, potted manzanita branches with hanging purple and cream pomanders. The centerpieces were both a mini version of a manzanita with a kermit mum pomander and various breakaway vases with mixed purple arrangements. We had the pleasure of working with Ashley from Table 6 who made the details come together effortlessly! Congratulations Katie and Jeff!

Rich romance at the Oxford!

Tonight is Julie's evening wedding in the romantic Oxford hotel ballroom. Her rich palette of reds, cranberries, pale pink and blackberry suited the atmosphere perfectly. We loved her choices including dahlias, mini calla lilies, black baccara roses, garden roses, hypericum, privet and winterberry.

We look forward to the gorgeous photographs by the talented Katie with Jenna Walker Photography and thank Erin with the Oxford Hotel and Katie Hess with Couture Consulting for their superb coordination. More details to come!
