Outstanding in the Field, take two...

Last week Joe and I attended the Outstanding in the Field dinner at Munson Farms in Boulder featuring a field to table dinner by Lachlan, the chef at Frasca Food and Wine, paired with wines from Scarpetta Wines and produce from Cure and Red Wagon Farms. If you are not familiar with OITF, it is a crew of devoted foodies that travel the world and create intimate dinners on organic farms. You can see more at http://www.outstandinginthefield.com/. The evening began with cocktail hour in the fields near the squash, followed by a farm tour. Munson farms is infamous for its sweet corn and we were able to take it straight from the stalk and sample. It was incredible on the spot (as demonstrated by Joe above!). Dinner is served down a long, draped table in the cornfield seating 150. It was a very unique experience as we sat near strangers who quickly became friends and enjoyed the cuisine and remote setting. Rain delayed our second and third courses but there was enough Pinot to kill time under the shelter of the barn and eventually we made our way through the muddy field in good spirits and enjoyed the rest of the dinner at twilight.
